  • Minutemen continue to struggle in Seminole District

        Liberty traveled to Brookville on Tuesday, Feb. 2 for a district rematch against Brookville. The Minutemen fell to Brookville in the first game after a hard fight during the Hall of Fame game.
        Liberty fell to Brookville 64-46.
        The Minutemen came out strong in the first taking a 16-15 lead. Brookville shut down Liberty’s scoring in the second and took the lead 36-22 at the half.

  • Bedford Clash: Liberty girls defeat Forest

        Rebecca Hensley took over the second half of the Liberty vs Jefferson Forest game and led the Lady Minutemen to a 33-27 victory for the Lady Cavaliers, in a Seminole rematch on Thursday, Feb. 4. 
        Liberty got off to a slow start as Forest took the lead 10-3. Liberty outscored the Lady Cavaliers in the second 9-7, however Forest remained in the lead 17-12 at the half.

  • Liberty girls take down Heritage

        Liberty girls basketball traveled to Heritage on Monday, Feb. 8 for a district rematch. Liberty defeated the Lady Pioneers in the first game 51-38. The Lady Minutemen were not going down without a fight in the rematch.
        Liberty defeated Heritage 45-36.
        Liberty got off to a late start in the first as Heritage took over leading 8-3. Liberty amped up its game in the second scoring 10 points. Heritage led 15-13 at the half.

  • The Cavaliers are on a roll

        Forest lost 67-34 in the first meeting but was hungry for a win in the rematch. Forest defeated Glass 59-54.
        Jefferson Forest boys basketball traveled to E.C. Glass on Tuesday, Feb. 2 for a district rematch against the Seminole powerhouse.
        The game took off quickly as Forest took a 16-11 lead in the first period. Glass flexed to outscore JF in the second. The Cavaliers led 27-26 at halftime.

  • Staunton River wins big at Conference

         Staunton River won the Conference 31 wrestling tournament by outdistancing runner up Lord Botetourt by 63 points. “We put 12 wrestlers in the finals and had seven Conference champions. We placed all 14 wrestlers in the top four  so we will send 14 wrestlers, our whole team, to the region. We wrestled as well as we have all year,” said SR Coach Ronald Long.

  • Liberty hangs on at Conference

        Liberty boys and girls swimming hosted the Conference 30 meet at the Bedford YMCA on Tuesday, Feb. 2. LHS placed second to Brookville and blew Heritage out of the water.
        With combined scores Brookville placed first with 306 points, Liberty second with 90 and Heritage third with 76.
        Liberty girls placed second with 37 points.

  • LHS and SR struggle having baskets fall

        After a big win against Jefferson Forest on Jan. 11, the Liberty boys have struggled to keep up the pace. The Minutemen fought against Rustburg but fell 52-41 on Tuesday, Jan 20.
        Liberty started off slow in the first falling behind by three points. The Red Devils led 12-9 at the beginning of the second period. The Minutemen outscored Rustburg in the second. Rustburg remained in the lead 21-19 at the half.

  • LHS and JF compete in tough track meet

        Liberty and Jefferson Forest competed in an indoor track meet at Liberty University on Tuesday, Jan. 19. The two Bedford schools competed against Brookville, Amherst, E.C. Glass, Liberty Christian and Virginia Episcopal.
        Liberty High came in third place with a combined score of 26 and Forest finished fourth with a combined score of 19.50.

  • Jefferson Forest takes down Salem

        The Jefferson Forest girls and boys swim teams beat Salem 237-102 on Jan. 19, in a dual meet.
        The Forest girls finished with a score of 125.
        Francisca Cifuentes, Tara Enneking, Amanda Mason and Danielle Utz finished first place in the 200 yard Medley relay with a time of 2:05.
        Cifuentes and Ashley Warran finished first and second in the 200 yard freestyle with times of 2:19 and 2:23.

  • SR girls swimming sees score in the hundreds

        Staunton River competed against Alleghany and William Byrd on Tuesday, Jan. 12 at a swim meet. Staunton River swam past Bryd and Alleghany with 246 total team points. Byrd finished with 209 and Alleghany 182.
        The Staunton River girls finished with a total of 170, Alleghany 101 and Byrd 89.
        Emily Pringle, Rebekah St. Clair, Alexis Dameron and Blair Blevins finished the 200 yard medley relay in third with a time of 2:45.
