        Jefferson Forest girls softball had a 10 run burst in the bottom of the first which lead the team to a 19-2 victory over Heritage in five innings on Wednesday, April 6.
        Jefferson Forest took the field first and had three outs before the Lady Pioneers had the chance to score a run.

            The Jefferson Forest girls soccer team dominated LCA 5-1 in a Seminole district matchup on Tuesday, April 5.
        The Lady Cavaliers started off slow as LCA scored the first goal of the game at 18:00. JF answered back with a goal by Erica Blankenship. Blankenship then scored again before the end of the first half.

        The Staunton River softball team took on and defeated William Byrd 6-2 Friday, April 8. “The girls are working hard in practice and it is paying off in games,” said Coach John Weller.
        The game wasn’t a struggle for the Lady Eagles. Brooke Mullins was the winning pitcher of the night with four hits, one strikeout and four walks.

  • Liberty softball starts out strong in district play

        The Liberty girls softball team went to the Botetourt Bash this past Friday, April 8 and the Lady Minutemen played two games and walked away 1-1.
        The first game Liberty defeated Blacksburg 8-5.
    Liberty scattered seven hits and scored two runs in the second, three in the third, two in the fifth and one in the sixth.

  • Staunton River defeats Liberty

        The Staunton River and Liberty boys soccer teams have met on the field twice and both times River walked away victorious. The Golden Eagles defeated Liberty 1-0 in the second match on Friday, April 1.
    Liberty put up a tough fight against the Golden Eagles but Stuart Givens, of SR, scored at 65:00 into the match. “Aaron Plattus [the Liberty goalie] played well. He had six saves,” said LHS coach Eric Seckman.

            The 5th Annual Blossom to Bottle 5K run and 3K walk will take place on Saturday, April 9 at 5 p.m. at the Peaks of Otter Winery.

  • Forest baseball loses first game of the season

        During Spring Break the Jefferson Forest baseball team traveled to Va Beach to play two local teams. Forest walked away 1-1 from the trip east.
        The Cavaliers got off to a fast start against the Salem-Va Beach Sun Devils on Thursday, March 31. The Cavaliers defeated the Sun Devils 9-3. “We put together 15 hits against the Sun Devils and played much better offensively and defensively,” said JF coach Ryan Gilleland.

  • Forest girls lacrosse defeat Rockbridge

            The Jefferson Forest girls lacrosse team is pushing to be the best in the area and isn’t letting anything stand in the way. The Lady Cavaliers defeated Rockbridge 15-9 on Tuesday, March 29.
        The first half of the game went back and forth until the Lady Cavs pulled together. “Our girls played great. We were tied 6-6 at one point in the first half then we pulled ahead to an 11-7 lead by halftime,” said Ava Rupert.

  • Liberty girls soccer struggles with Blue Ridge District teams

        The Liberty girls soccer team traveled to Rustburg for its first Seminole District matchup on Thursday, March 24. The Lady Minutemen held nothing back defeating the Lady Red Devils 7-0 for Liberty’s first win of the season.
        “We were able to score 7 from 3 different formations and multiple different scorers,” said Coach Jeff Steele.
