Well, we didn’t see that one coming.
Jefferson Forest saw its spectacular volleyball season come to a close, as Cave Spring topped the Lady Cavs on their home court.
Snarled traffic on I-81 caused difficulties for the Staunton River faithful in their quest to reach Harrisonburg.
But that was nothing, compared with what the team faced on the field.
It’s nice to have that homefield advantage.
Therefore, the Minutemen ensured that nobody left early.
Indeed, everybody stuck around to see Liberty rebound from an Alleghany comeback.
“I love our parents!” exclaimed Jefferson Forest Head Coach Jerome Loy. “Our parents are the best in the state!”
They’re all big at this stage. The Golden Eagles may be facing their biggest opponent yet, this Friday.
Staunton River turns its attention to the Massanutten, where it will face that district’s champion, Harrisonburg.
“We’re not just some feel-good story anymore,” said Head Coach Chuck Poston, following his team’s 21-10 win over E.C. Glass.
He’d have gotten no argument from the Hilltoppers. As they loaded their buses for the trip back to Lynchburg, they were feeling anything but good.
The long black train made a scheduled stop in Harrisonburg.
All aboard!
In life, your success is usually based on what you make of your opportunities.

Liberty showed that it is an indiscriminate winner, taking the good and the bad, as long as it translates into a win.
The volleyball postseason got off to a rousing start Monday evening.
