  • Forest performs well despite missing wrestlers


        The Jefferson Forest wrestling team traveled to Northern, Va to compete in the Appalachian Duals at Skyline High School. The Cavs only had 10 wrestlers for the meet. The team did not wrestle in 120, 132, 170, 182, and essentially 285, however, 202 Matt Snead filled in with much fight.
        JF began the day vs. Handley, who had throttled the Cavs 24-68 at Fauquier. This time the score was 21-54, but in matches wrestled the teams split the matches 5-5 with a 21-28 score.

  • Liberty girls celebrate third win

        Liberty girls basketball, down two players due to illness and family obligations, defeated Altavista 38-34 on Tuesday, Dec. 22.
        “The game was a game we had to gut out. It was not always pretty but players made big plays down the stretch that helped us solidify the win,” said LHS Coach Emilee Dunton.

  • Lady Cavaliers win at Beacon Classic

        With a big fourth quarter comeback Forest fell to Rustburg 44-37 last Friday, Dec. 18 in a girls district matchup.
        Forest and Rustburg tied the first quarter at 8-8. The Lady Red Devils jumped ahead 16-15 going into half time.
        “We just folded. We had it in control until about the beginning of the fourth. We made some silly decision and made some mistakes,” said Coach Steve Mills.

  • Minutemen struggle to compete

        Liberty struggled to get going and fell to Amherst 69-32 last Monday, Dec. 14.
        Amherst took a 12-7 lead in the first quarter. Amherst took advantage of some poor shooting by the M-men in the second and increased its lead 34-18 at halftime.

  • Forest hosts Tri-Meet

        Forest indoor track competed against Brookville and Amherst last Tuesday, Dec. 15 at Heritage High School.
        The Amherst girls team finished first with 63 points, Brookville followed with 34 and Forest scored 13.
        Madison Hanson finished the 55 meter dash in seventh place with a time of 8.22. Alexis Ayala finished eighth with a time of 8.29.
        Emi Claxton finished the 300 meter dash in first place with a time of 51.13.

  • Librty and River dominate in quard swim meet

        Liberty and Staunton River competed in a swim meet at the Bedford YMCA against Glenvar and William Fleming last Tuesday, Dec. 15.
        Combined team scores: Liberty finished in first with 243 points, Staunton River with 222.5, Glenvar with 126.5, and William Fleming with 71.
        The girls team scores: Liberty finished in first with 146 points, Staunton River with 128, Glenvar with 124, and William Fleming with 41.

  • Jefferson Forest Swim

        The Forest swim team competed in a quad meet against Heritage, Liberty Christian, and Amherst on Friday, Dec. 18.
        The Forest Girls finished first with a score of 213, LCA finished second with 119, Heritage finished with 80 and Amherst finished with 70.
        Forest’s Casey Wrabley, Lexi Plogger, Amanda Mason and Danielle Utz finished first in the girls 200 medley relay with a time of 2:01.

  • Lady Minutemen win at Beacon Classic

        After a late start to the girls varsity basketball district match up, Liberty fell to Amherst 49-44 last Tuesday, Dec. 15.
        The Lady Minutemen had some extra time to get a game plan ready as they waited for the junior varsity team to finish playing. “We had a great game plan and executed it well,” said Coach Emilee Dunton.
