  • Sports Day-ly: Officiating, the...

The NBA does not have a lot of flaws, especially in comparison to their long lost step brother–the NFL.

With that being said, the NBA is very far from perfection. The biggest issue in the current NBA product has nothing to do with the players. Rather the officials who are in control of the game.

I know officiating a basketball game is hard. I was an official for my final two years of middle school and my freshman year in high school.

  • New Year's Resolutions for...

2018 is right around the corner and the best–or worst– parts about a new year is the amount of New Year’s resolutions that somehow make their way onto the internet.

Usually resolutions will be people vowing to live a healthier lifestyle by working out and eating more vegetables. Or some could try and better their mind by reading more frequently. The list of cliche resolutions goes on and on and on.

The Staunton River boys basketball team continued it dominant start to the season with 67-55 win over the Glenvar Highlanders.

Down at half 24-27 the Golden Eagles came out of the intermission with something to prove while fighting to keep their season perfect.

The first week of December was not kind to the Jefferson Forest girl’s basketball team. The Lady Cavaliers started the month off with three consecutive losses, including one to Seminole District rival Liberty.

The second week was a completely different story. The Lady Cavaliers picked up three consecutive wins against Amherst County (36-35), E.C. Glass (50-24), and Staunton River (46-20)

  • Cavalier Boys with another...

The Jefferson Forest Cavaliers jumped in the Jamerson YMCA pool to take on the Liberty Christian Academy Bulldogs and the E.C. Glass Hilltoppers.

Glass’ girl’s team placed first with 92 points, Jefferson Forest followed that with 59 points and Liberty Christian Academy scored 18. The Cavaliers’ boy’s team cruised to a win scoring 111, Glass finished second with 43 points and Liberty Christian with 16 points.

  • Golden Eagles place second in...

On Dec. 14 Staunton River took to the pool at the Bedford Area YMCA to take on James River High School and Blue Ridge District rival William Fleming. This was the first time this season that the Golden Eagles got to test themselves against a Blue Ridge district opponent.

Thankful. That was one of the first words that came to the mind of Golden Eagles superstar Grayson Overstreet when looking back at this season.

A historic season for Staunton River in which the team tied a school record for wins with 13 before falling just short of their ultimate goal of winning a state championship.

  • Would You Rather? Sports Edition

I’m a big fan of games. Which is good considering games are a rather large portion of sports and I cover sports for a living.

But not all games are directly related to sports. Some games are purely fun, some games are slightly dangerous and some are both.

Today we’re going to play a game that is both. This game can be abbreviated into a three letter acronym that really gets people’s brains going. Don’t worry its not that three letter acronym, this game is called “Would you rather.”
