  • Pushing the boundaries

        Grayson Overstreet has been pushing his way through defensive lines on the varsity team since his sophomore year in high school. Now as a junior Overstreet has rushed for over 2,000 yards.
        Overstreet started playing football when he was 5 years old. His parents put him in little league and he has enjoyed the sport ever since.

  • Extra Points: Almost the Holidays

    Thanksgiving is already here which means Christmas is almost here and it has also been one of my favorite holidays.
        However, it is amazing how early they put out the Christmas stuff, last year they barely had Halloween stuff down before the Christmas/Holiday stuff was put out. This year, forget it, they had all of the Holiday stuff out before Halloween was even here.
        Next year they will probably have all the Holiday stuff out in September and Halloween and Thanksgiving won’t even really be acknowledged.

  • Blue Ridge Bowl

        Campbell County and Bedford County recreation departments held the first ever Blue Ridge Bowl last Saturday at Liberty University.
        The 7-8 Forest Red, the 9-10 Bedford Minutemen and the 10-13 Bedford Minutemen represented Bedford Co. Rec.
        The Forest Red football team defeated Appomattox 22-12.

  • LHS first annual Turkey Trot

        Last Saturday Liberty High School held its very first Turkey Trot 5k and a one mile fun run.
        “We had lots of great feedback. Everyone seemed to have a great time,” said Athletic Director Lori Mattson.
        The Turkey Trot benefited the Sports Boosters and the Liberty High School Athletic Department.

  • Bedford area Home school tennis...

        The Bedford Recreation department sponsored a 10 week tennis program for homeschool students under Dave Eckes.
        The program had 17 students ranging from ages 8 to 15 and met every Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Liberty Lake Park.
        Last Wednesday the program held a tournament for the students.

  • Jefferson Forest girls finish...

        The Jefferson Forest girls cross country team finished fourth at the State Championship last Friday and Saturday at the Great Meadows state course in The Plains, Va.
        Forest finished with a total of 135 points. E.C. Glass took first place with 36 points, Loudon Valley was second with 88 points, and Grafton High was third with 117.

        The past few weeks have been crazy, people were so concerned about making sure everyone got out and voted and when they did and the polls we had been hearing on the news channels for the last three months were wrong people took to the streets.
        Of course, this is not the first time in the last year people have taken to the streets for protests and it definitely isn’t the first time that the protests turned into riots.
