  • Seminole District Track Meet

    The Seminole District teams competed in the District Tournament Saturday Jan. 27 at Heritage High School.
        

    The meet was broken up into multiple days and the Saturday portion of the event was held outside.
        

    Jefferson Forest finished the day with a few individual district champions on both the boy’s and girl’s teams. The girl’s team tied with E.C. Glass and Heritage for first place.
      

  • Golden Eagles go 2-1 in four days

    Staunton River started its stretch of three games in four days Friday Jan. 26. The Golden Eagles hosted Blue Ridge rival Lord Botetourt and defeated the Cavaliers 61-43. 
        

    The following day the Golden Eagles traveled to Fleming to face off against the Colonels. Behind a 31-point performance from Damien Martin the Colonels defeated the Golden Eagles 69-53.
        

    Josh Thomas scored 21 points in the loss, Kalip Jones added 18 and Grayson Overstreet scored nine points.
        

  • Lady Golden Eagles fall just...

    The Staunton River Lady Golden Eagles hosted Cave Spring on Monday. Jan. 29 and the team was within reach of their second win of the season but fell four points short. Cave Spring defeated Staunton River 45-41.
        

    Staunton River led after the first quarter, 13-9. But a big second quarter from Cave Spring gave the Lady Knights a 24-22 lead at the half.
        

  • Davis gives Cavaliers win at the...

    The Lady Cavaliers found themselves in a tight one against Seminole District rival Rustburg on Monday Jan. 29. The game was tied 37-37 late in the fourth quarter.
        

    With two seconds left on the clock the ball found its way into the hands of Maddie Davis. Davis buried one of her three, three-point field goals to give Jefferson Forest a 40-37 win.
        

  • Blue Ridge District Track Meet

    Following the conclusion of the Seminole District meet it was Staunton River’s turn to represent Bedford County as a part of the Blue Ridge District.
        

    For the girl’s team Sarah Maslen finished fifth in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 6:44.62. Maslen also finished second in the 500 meter dash with a time of 1:29.59 just falling short of the winning time of 1:29.59.
        

  • Golden Eagles pick up two wins...

    Staunton River competed in the Blue Ridge Duals Wednesday Jan. 24 and walked away with a 53-27 win over Lord Botetourt and a 46-25 win over Fleming.
        

    Against Lord Botetourt the Golden Eagles scored scored three victories via fall and one victory via technical fall.
        

    Nathan Kerns was awarded the technical fall victory in the 138-pound weight class. Kerns outscored his opponent 15-0 for five points.
        

  • Ospreys run off four straight...

    The Ospreys of Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy went 4-0 in action last week, improving their record to 14-8 overall, 4-4 in the region.
        

    This past week’s games included wins over Lynchburg Homeschool, SMLCA-69, LHS-41; Westover Christian Academy, SMLCA-79, WCA-42; Jefferson Christian Academy, SMLCA-79, JCA-47; and Roanoke Valley Christian, SMLCA-84, RVCS-58.
        

  • Cavaliers avenge early season...

    The much anticipated rematch between the Jefferson Forest Cavaliers and Staunton River Golden Eagles came two days later than expected. Frozen water falling from the sky moved this game–originally scheduled for Thursday Jan. 18–to Saturday Jan. 20.
        

  • Lady Minutemen pick up two...

    The Liberty Lady Minutemen had their second consecutive Saturday game as they took on the Liberty Christian Academy Lady Bulldogs. .The snow moved the Lady Minutemen’s game against the Lady Bulldogs from Thursday Jan. 18 to Saturday Jan. 20.
        

  • Liberty builds first win streak...

    The Liberty Minutemen were in search of their first win streak of the season as the team hosted Seminole District rival, the Liberty Christian Academy Bulldogs.
        

    Classes were cancelled because of the snow but the game must go on and the Bulldogs traveled out to Bedford. The Minutemen took down the Bulldogs 45-37 for their second consecutive win.
