Joe’s approval rating still remains in the toilet. He struggles to even get it to 40% and Robert Hur’s report earlier this month didn’t help. It labeled him as a well-meaning old man with a bad memory. Actually, this wasn’t new information. Most of us already knew that. Some of us, myself included, have a less charitable view. Some of us think he is a senile old fool.
It’s so bad that a number of pundits are saying Joe should step down in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris. Now, wouldn’t that be wonderful? We would replace a senile old fool with somebody who has a proven track record of being totally incompetent as vice president. She is such a non-entity that I wonder how many people remember that she is vice president.
Joe is so bad that Donald Trump is running neck and neck with him in the polls. And that is after Trump made an outrageous suggestion that we should invite Russia to invade and conquer any NATO country that doesn’t spend enough on its own defense. This was a reminder that Trump’s propensity for rash statements and ill-considered bluster is what turned a lot of independent voters against him in 2020. Remember his infamous middle of the night tweets?
Trump could still beat Joe and a Trump second presidency would be a fitting legacy for a one-term Biden presidency.
It would be nice if the November election didn’t end up being a Joe-Trump rematch. I am horrified at the probability that Joe will be reelected by a narrow margin and he will have another four years to complete the job of running America into the ground.
It’s too bad Republicans are so fixated on Trump. Polls show that Nikki Haley would beat Joe if Republicans nominate her. She would be a much better president than that senile old fool, or our current totally incompetent vice president. She would also be better than Trump. Unlike Trump, who is a populist who is prone to throwing rhetorical bombs, Haley is a standard Republican. She is the kind of conservative that Republican leaders were before Trump, who isn’t really a Republican, hijacked the party.
She has stayed in the race even though Trump badly wants her to get out. She appears not to have a chance of winning, but it appears that her donors may have another opinion. They have been putting up enough money to keep her in the race.
Virginia holds its presidential primary on March 5, Super Tuesday. I plan to vote for Haley. Her chances of winning the Republican nomination don’t look good, but I’m going to vote for her. I will not vote for Donald Trump because I don’t want to see him get the Republican nomination. I don’t want him to get the Republican nomination because there is too much risk that Joe will beat him in November.
What if Trump gets the Republican nomination? If the November election ends up being Joe vs. Trump, I will vote for Trump. Back in 2012, I held my nose and vote for Mitt Romney. I held my nose in 2016 and voted for Trump as I would not have cast a vote for Satan’s Sister if somebody held a loaded gun to my head. This time around, I will have to fight to control my gag reflex as I vote for Trump. I think I can keep from throwing up in the voting booth.
Actually, Trump turned out to be a good president his first time in the White House. It’s just that his tweets ticked some people off. This time around, I’m concerned that he will surround himself with yes men. Trump can be erratic and I do have some concern that there won’t be anybody among his senior advisors to talk reason into him if he gets some wild idea.
But nothing would be worse than another four years of Joe.
