23rd Annual SMAC Photo Contest and Show

Smith Mountain Arts Council (SMAC) is pleased to announce the 23rd Annual John Faber Memorial Photo Contest and Show will take place April 27-29 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Moneta.

The SMAC Photo Contest serves as an important showcase for the works of talented photographers who live at Smith Mountain Lake, as well as those from Bedford, Rocky Mount, Roanoke, Lynchburg and beyond. The contest is open to all photographers – casual, amateur and professional.

The eight categories for photo entries remain unchanged from last year. They are: 1) SML Area Scenes, 2) Landscapes and Seascapes, 3) People, 4) Wildlife and Pets, 5) Architecture, 6) Close-up, Macro or Still Life, 7) Digital Manipulation, and 8) Youth, under 18 or enrolled High School student.

Cash awards will be presented, as follows:Best In Show, $300;1st Place in each category, $100; 2nd in category, $50; and 3rd in category, $25.

Important 2018 Photo Show Dates:

Fri., Apr. 13: Entry Deadline (forms and fees due).

Mon., Apr. 23: 10:00 AM-2:00 PM:  Photographs must be delivered to Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

Fri., Apr. 27: 6:30-8:30 PM: Reception and Awards Presentation; Free and open to the public.

Sat., Apr. 28: 10 AM-4:00 PM and Sun., Apr. 29, Noon – 3:00 PM:  Public Exhibit open.

Sun., Apr. 29: 3:00-5:00 PM: Photographs should be picked up from Bethlehem UMC.
