Baseball: Jefferson Forest picks up two district wins

The Jefferson Forest Cavaliers had three Seminole District games on the schedule this week. The Cavaliers defeated E.C. Glass 9-7 on Tuesday May 1 and on Friday May 4 Brookville 6-4 before losing to Amherst County 3-2 on Monday May 7.
Jefferson Forest utilized a four-run fifth inning against E.C. Glass to propel them past the Hilltoppers.

Jackson Cherry went deep again and knocked in three runs on two hits against Glass. Hunter Morrison went 1-4 and added two RBI for the Cavaliers. Bubba Jones was credited with the win. Jones pitched two and two-third innings, allowed one hit and struck out six Hilltoppers.

Against Brookville, Jefferson Forest trailed 2-0 in the second inning. With the paces loaded the Cavaliers put together a string of three consecutive hits followed by a walk to take a commanding 4-2 lead.

Luke Fowler went 2-4 with two RBI and Cherry went 2-3 with a RBI.

The Cavaliers trend of coming back when trailing ended against Amherst County. The Lancers took an early 2-0 lead in the second inning and the Cavaliers could not bounce back.

Griffin Agee pitched five innings, struck out seven Lancers on just three hits. Fowler went 2-3 with a run and a RBI and Griffin Woolridge went 1-3 with a RBI.

Jefferson Forest (12-5) ends the regular season on the road against Heritage on Friday May 11 at 7:30 p.m.
