Bedford Metro, the last remaining area team in the Dixie Youth Baseball 9-and-10 year old state tournament, advanced to the championship game with a dramatic final inning victory on Tuesday night over South Hill.

It was the third one-run victory for the team in tournament play and the second consecutive sixth inning victory by a 7-6 score.

Bedford Metro holds the upper hand over area rival Rustburg in this double elimination tournament as they have yet to lose. Rustburg will have to beat them twice in order to win the state title, since Bedford beat them in the opening round last week 4-3.

The championship game will be held at the Forest Youth Athletic Association field (FYAA) in Forest on Wednesday night at 7:00 PM. Should Bedford Metro win, the championship will be theirs's. If they lose, the two teams will have to play again the following evening on Thursday to determine the championship.
