High school baseball may be over, but Jefferson Forest, Liberty and Staunton River players continue to make news as 11 players were recently mentioned on the All-Area team.
Griffin Agee and Jackson Cherry from Jefferson Forest made the first team along with Nick Funk from Staunton River.
Agee, one of the most heralded area pitchers in recent memory, will attend UVa. in the fall while Cherry will return to lead the Cavaliers next season. Funk, who will also be playing collegiate ball next season, had an exceptional senior year to win the district and regional player of the year awards.
JF and SRHS scored again with the naming of Cavalier players Lucas Bosiger and Jaylen Calloway making the second team along with Golden Eagle infielder Jared Mayhew.
Receiving honorable mention recognition were Liberty Minutemen Nick Maxfield and Nathan Porterfield. Staunton River’s Collin Bates and JF’s Kyle McGehee and Connor Maggi.
