Suspect escapes custody of BPD; Kasey Wayne Johnson sought by police

On August 2, 2017 Mr. Kasey Wayne Johnson, a 6’1 160 lb. white male born in 1997 and resident of the Town of Bedford, was at the police department in reference to Larceny of a vehicle. Mr. Johnson was placed in handcuffs and being prepared to be transported to the Magistrate’s Office so warrants could be obtained. Officers escorted Mr. Johnson outside the police department and stopped to allow him to smoke a cigarette. The officers moved the handcuffs to his front. He smoked his cigarette and turned and fled from the officers. Officers pursued but were unable to stop Mr. Johnson. Officers converged into the area to search and locate him. Mr. Johnson was not located and the Bedford Police Department continues to search for Mr. Kasey Johnson.


Officers obtained warrants for 2 counts of 18.2-95 Grand Larceny, 1 count of 18.2-96 Petit Larceny, 1 count of 18.2-137 Destruction of Property and 1 count 18.2479 escape custody without force.
