Commentary on tattoos and their place in sports

By Mike Forster

Watching basketball the other day, I was taken aback by the preponderance of tattoos on the athletes.

In recalling my introduction to the world of body art, I hearken back to my youth and my across-the-street neighbor, Mr. Sagenforf.

A veteran of the Navy, Mr. Sagenforf had what I wanted:  a hula girl tattoo.

This piece had been needled into his biceps when he was a young swabbie.  Despite his old age (he must have been 40 years old, or more!), he could still make that gal dance, just by flexing his muscles.
