        Helen Saunders Miller, 91 of  Huddleston passed away Monday, March 2, 2009, at  Bedford Memorial Hospital.  She was born on Saturday, Dec. 8, 1917, in Roanoke, a daughter of the late Joseph Saunders and  Rosa Maxey Saunders. 

        She was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel “Sam” Bennett Miller; two brothers, Clyde Saunders and Paris Saunders and two sisters, Frances Dickerson and Ruth Motley. 

        She was a member of Patmos United Methodist Church.

  • Prescott C. Terrell, 83, Lynchburg

        Prescott Carter Terrell, 83, of Lynchburg died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at his home following a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Craig Terrell.

        He was born in Lynchburg on July 4, 1925, a son of the late Frederick Augustus Terrell and Sally Carter Terrell.

        Lucille (Pete) Coleman Nichols, 81, of Glasgow, died peacefully in her home on Saturday, March 7, 2009. 

        She was a beautiful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed by all.  She was a member of the Big Island Baptist Church.

        She was born July 8, 1927 of the late Elmer Coleman and Lue Stinnett Coleman.

        Jaena M. Obenchain, age 8, of Vallejo, CA, died March 12, 2009.

        This little angel is survived by her father and mother, John Marshall and Gaema Obenchain, sister, Janessa, sister, Justine and brother, John Marshall Obenchain, IV. She is also survived by her uncle and aunt, Jerhett and Christy Obenchain, cousins, Kalani, Jena, J. J. and Christian; grandfather and grandmother, John M. and Patsy T. Obenchain; grandfather and grandmother, Winston and Emmy Gaetos, uncle, Genison Gaetos, great grandmother, Dorothy A. Obenchain, of Bedford.

        Thurmond “Bird” Wendell Price, 48, of Bedford, died Saturday, March 14, 2009, in Lynchburg General. He was born in Delaware, July 24, 1960. He is preceded in death by his father, Nathaniel Martin Price and one brother, Lloyd Price. 

        Thurmond was a member of Ministry of Glory Church.

        Ellen Irene Pritchett, age 92, of Asbury-Solomons, died Sunday, March 8, 2009, surrounded by family at Calvert Memorial Hospital.

        Irene was born Nov. 18, 1916, in Hopewell, where she lived until her early 20’s, when she moved to Washington, DC. She married Arthur H. Pritchett, Jr. in 1941 and lived for 47 years in District Heights, MD.

        Maggie Harris Perdue Dunlap Willis, 87 of Moneta passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at  Smith Mountain Lake Retirement Village.  She was born on Thursday, Aug. 25, 1921, in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Robert Lee Harris and Annie Daniel Harris. 

        She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Henry O. Willis, James E. Dunlap and Charles T. Perdue, brothers, Charlie, John and Raymond Harris and sisters, Ruby Martrin, Pearl Overstreet and Nadine Snead.

  • Robert E. Forgie, 69, Clifton Forge

        Robert Edward “Ed” Forgie, age 69, of 200 Ferrol Avenue, (Wesgate) Clifton Forge, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at his residence.

        He was born on March 11, 1939, in Bedford County, Virginia, a son of the late William Raymond and Bonnie Belle Craft Forgie. He was a self employed electrical contractor and carpenter. He belonged to the I.B.E.W. (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers), and was a member of Walnut Grove Union Church in Montvale.
