• Clarence T. Waller, 78, Bedford

    Clarence Thomas “C.T” Waller, 78, of Bedford, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, in the V.A. Medical Center in Salem. He was born in Pittsylvania County on Jan. 4, 1930, a son of the late Emerson Monroe Waller and Lucy Jones Waller.

    He was a Army veteran serving in the Korean War.

  • Janette W. Seager, 56, Huddleston

    Janette Walsh Seager, 56, of Huddleston, died Friday, March 14, 2008, at her residence. She was born in Pennsylvania on July 29, 1951, a daughter of the late, Paul Russell Walsh and Anita Angelina Bonderenko Walsh.

    In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Russell Walsh, II.

    She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Terry Seager; a daughter, Rene Seager; a son, Christopher Seager and his wife, Stacey; her sister, Tracey Wilson and her husband Richard; a niece, Sheridan Wilson; two nephews, Pike and Maiken Wilson.

  • Paul R. Phillips, 68, Bedford

    Paul Rucker Phillips, 68, of Bedford, died Friday, March 14, 2008. He was born in Bedford County on July 4, 1939, a son of the late Herman Lee Phillips and Mary Virginia Roberts Phillips.

    In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Phillips Lukomski and Geneva Phillips Witt and a brother, Elbert Lee Phillips.

    Thea Teresa Church Goin, 82, of Lynchburg died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Earl Luken Goin.

    Teresa was born on June 16, 1925, in Lynchburg the daughter of the late Lafayette Church and Mattie Merryman Church.

    She was a retired school nurse with Campbell County Schools.

  • Mack Floyd, 82, Big Island

    Mack Floyd, 82 of Big Island died March 16, 2008, in Virginia Baptist Hospital. Born April 26, 1925, in Bedford County, a son of the late Matthew Floyd and Sadie Martin Floyd.

    He was the beloved husband of Dorothy Louise Floyd for 58 years. He was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church.

    Laura Wright Cox, 45 of Lynchburg, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2008, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born June 16, 1962, in Bedford County, a daughter of Jimmy Al Wright of Bedford and the late Easter Krantz Wright.

    She was also preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Witt.

    She was the deli manager at Food Lion at Boonsboro.

    In addition to her father, she is survived by a nephew, Jason M. Branch, Bedford; and a great niece, Hailey M. Branch, Bedford.

    Robert Randolph Carter, 78 of Bedford passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on Monday, Dec. 16, 1929, in Bedford Co., a son of the late Herman Lewis Carter and the late Pernie Virginia Amos Carter.

    He was a retired foreman with Weblite Corporation.

    Elizabeth Cole Kincannon Long, 95, of Providence Forge, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008. Born Nov. 28, 1912, in Bedford County, she was the daughter of Theodore Cole and Blanch Fuqua Kincannon.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Byrd Wesley Long, her son, Richard Byrd Long, brothers, Charles, Thomas, John Alexander, and Roy Kincannon; sisters, Janie Irving and Evelyn Blanch Kincannon.

  • Virginia A. Goode, 89, Bedford

    Virginia Belle Almond Goode, 89, of Bedford, died Sunday, March 9, 2008, in Campbell Rest Home. She was born Sept. 7, 1918, in Pittsylvania County, a daughter of the late Claudia Belle and George Griffin Almond.

    Virginia was a member of Bedford Christian Church. She attended Roanoke College and Radford College. For over thirty-one years, Virginia was a teacher in the Bedford County Public School system.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William David Goode, Jr and a grandson, Wade DuVal Murray.
