  • Keen to serve 15 years

        Wesley Keen and his wife, Sherry Keen, kept a 14-year-old girl padlocked in her room and tortured her.

        A pre-sentence report on Wesley Keen showed guidelines of probation up to six months in jail. He had previously pleaded guilty to four felony charges in this case.
        For Bedford County Circuit Court Judge James Updike, that wasn’t near enough.

  • BCSO SRO faces complaint

        On Thursday October 11, the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint containing accusations against Cpl. Daniel Clark and his behavior with a juvenile.

           A 2003 graduate of Liberty High School, Clark has been serving as a School Resource Office at LHS since 2012. He became a sheriff’s deputy in 2007.

  • Sunday night incident leaves 2 dead

        At 11 p.m. Sunday night Travis Howell called 911 and said that Timothy Howell, his father, had broken into his home on East Lois Court in Bedford County.
        According to a report from the Bedford County Sheriff’s office, after entering the house, Timothy Howell allegedly went into the bedroom of Elizabeth Wilson,  59, and killed her. Wilson is Travis Howell’s mother-in-law.

        The first of a group of men charged in the murder of Lynchburg teenager Raymond Wood on March 27, 2017 went on trial in Circuit Court Tuesday.

  • Charges against two men advance to grand jury

        Charges against a Roanoke man accused of computer solicitation of a minor under the age of 15 years old were certified to the November grand jury in action Wednesday in Bedford General District Court.
        Matt Stanley Perry, 42, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on three counts of computer solicitation of a minor and one count of indecent liberties, while having several other charges dropped during Wednesday’s hearing before Judge Randy Krantz.
