  • BCSO seeks help to ID suspect in theft

        The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a shoplifting suspect.
        On Friday November 23, a black male wearing a red hoodie and believed to be in his 40s shoplifted several items from the Quick Mart located on Moneta Road. The suspect is believed to be traveling in a black Dodge Nitro.

  • 86 year old county man facing sexual battery charges

        An 86-year-old Huddleston man is facing three aggravated sexual battery charges.
        On October 22, the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of possible sex crimes. The investigation into the complaint revealed the alleged crimes occurred between 1994 and 2010.
        On December 4, Carl U. Wheeler, 86, of Huddleston was arrested and charged with three aggravated sexual battery charges. He is being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Bedford without bond.

  • Two men arrested for alleged assault

        On Tuesday evening, Nov. 27, Bedford County 911 received a call reporting an assault on Murray Hollow Road.
        Bedford County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies responded to the scene. The victim had been transported to the hospital prior to the deputies’ arrival on the scene.

  • Local man arrested on sexual assault warrants

        In January 2017, BCSO and Bedford Co. Child Protective Services received a complaint of a possible sexual assault on a juvenile.
        The investigation revealed the sexual assaults occurred in the summer of 2012. During the investigation the suspect, John Robert Garner, 37, moved to Maryland.
        In March 2017, a Bedford County Sheriff’s Investigator obtained two sexual assault arrest warrants on John Robert Garner.

  • Bedford man faces sexual assault charges of infant

    A 29-year-old Bedford man has been charged with the sexual assault of an infant girl.
        According to Bedford Police Chief Todd Foreman, officers responded to a call of a sexual assault on the evening of Oct. 27.  They were responding to the call from Centra Bedford Memorial Hospital in reference to a child with injuries.
        Foreman said following an investigation, Lee Eldridge Gibson was arrested on Nov. 9 and charged with aggravated sexual battery and child abuse and neglect.
        He remains in custody.

  • Man charged with passing counterfeit money

        An Indiana man has been charged with spreading counterfeit bills in Bedford County.

        According to a report from Major Ricky Gardner of the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, this past Saturday November 23, Bedford County 911 received a call from a business in Forest reporting it had received a counterfeit $100 bill. The person reporting the crime described the suspect as a black male who was skinny and had two gold teeth.

  • Keen to serve 15 years

        Wesley Keen and his wife, Sherry Keen, kept a 14-year-old girl padlocked in her room and tortured her.

        A pre-sentence report on Wesley Keen showed guidelines of probation up to six months in jail. He had previously pleaded guilty to four felony charges in this case.
        For Bedford County Circuit Court Judge James Updike, that wasn’t near enough.

  • BCSO SRO faces complaint

        On Thursday October 11, the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint containing accusations against Cpl. Daniel Clark and his behavior with a juvenile.

           A 2003 graduate of Liberty High School, Clark has been serving as a School Resource Office at LHS since 2012. He became a sheriff’s deputy in 2007.

  • BCSO receives complaint on School Resource Officer

     

         On Thursday October 11, the Bedford County Sheriff's Office received a complaint containing accusations against Cpl. Daniel Clark and his behavior with a juvenile.

          Clark has been serving as a School Resource Office at Liberty High School.
