        A children’s photographer for 16 years in the Forest area, she has added being a children’s author to her resumé.
        Last year she wrote her first children’s book, “Dragons Really Do Love Tea.” She had a book signing at Givens Little Dickens Books last summer  which helped make the book a success.

        A process to develop a revitalization plan for Bedford, called School-to-School, got underway with community meetings last month.

  • School board calls special meeting

        The Bedford County School Board will hold a special called meeting this Thursday, June 21, to consider personnel and legal matters.

        The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the School Board Office Conference Room. There will be a public comment time.

  • Memorial marks 74th anniversary

        The National D-Day Memorial Foundation held its annual commemoration last Wednesday of the anniversary of D-Day — the massive Allied amphibious landing on June 6, 1944 that ultimately put a million allied troops into France by the Fourth of July that year.

        Toddstock 7.0 is the 70th birthday celebration of musician and producer, Todd Rundgren.
        The Sedalia area is serving as host for this private, week-long celebration that will take place between Mountain Run Farm and The Sedalia Center June 17-23.

  • BCSO makes arrests in assault case

        On June 6, a woman reported being allegedly kidnapped and assaulted by Christopher Walters and Bennie Dale Overstreet Jr, according to a report from the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office.
         The victim was admitted to RMH ICU due to her injuries.

  • ICAC investigation yields arrests

        The following subjects have been arrested in connection with an ongoing Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children investigation.
        Roman David Marshall, 25, of Salem, was arrested and charged on the following charges: one count solicitation of child pornography and three counts of use of a communications device to facilitate certain offenses involving children.
        Marshall is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on the charges on Aug. 27 at 1:30 p.m.
