  • Local youth leader arrested

    A local youth leader at a Forest church is facing felony and misdemeanor counts of unlawfully filming of a minor.

    Auri Christopher Collin Jones, 28, of Lynchburg was arrested Wednesday on one felony count of unlawful filming, videotaping or photographing of a minor. On Thursday, Jones was arrested on a misdemeanor count of the same charge, related to filming someone over the age of 18.

    Several hundred students gathered around the flagpole at Staunton River High School Friday morning to remember two of their classmates who died in an accident Wednesday.

    This week we celebrate Veterans Day to honor the brave men and women who have nobly served our country. For those who have served, we thank you for protecting our freedoms and for those continuing to serve all over the world and here at home, we appreciate your service and dedication to defending and protecting our nation. As journalist Elmer Davis once said, “This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.”

    Election 2012 is finally over. The American people have spoken, and I am quite confident that the correct choices for this country have been made.
        I am proud to be among those who cast our ballots for a good president who has survived vicious and mean-spirited assaults against him, a man whose religion and nationality has been subjected to the most scurrilous attacks, often by people who have acted only out of hatred and ignorance.
