    The bridge
    problem

Thank you for your article on the truck problem on Wolf Creek Bridge on Dickerson Mill Rd, (March 8, 2018).  After living ½ mile from the bridge for the last 4 years now, I believe there is no easy fix for the issue discussed in the article, and there are other risks on this section of road that must also be addressed.

    Regrets moving here

Living in Bedford County is like in a third world country—no law and order as Mike Brown sits and ignores public safety issues.

    A new vision

I was attracted to the abundance of natural beauty and the potentials when I made my home here in 1990.
It feels like it’s time for a new vision to take hold here. In this vision county officials and various department heads share a common set of goals and operating principles: service, integrity, mutual respect, practical protections for water and air quality, and for our forests, soils and historic properties.

    Keeping the lake
    at full pond

It is amazing that the level of Smith Mountain Lake can be constantly at 4’ to 5’ below full pond on a constant basis but cannot be kept at a constant full pond.
The simple solution would be, don’t release any more water than what is coming into the lake. I believe that is what the pump back system from Leesville Lake was designed for.
    The severe consequences are:

Thank You Bedford Fire And Rescue

To the citizens of Bedford. I would like you to know, we have a small group of dedicated men and women scattered throughout our area, who deserve a huge shout out! It is our local Bedford Fire, Rescue and 911 Dispatchers, who respond to our call for help – daily.
I live within 5 to 6 minutes from town and on the morning of January 19th, my family had a situation that was out of our hands and could have been devastating to us, without the quick response of this team.

    Trump’s record

I guess I am one of the worst people, according to Rick Howell. He also states that he correctly called “The Great Stupidity of 2016.”
Apparently Rick Howell is either stupid or brain dead. Our President (Everybody’s American President), the President of our country has turned the economy around in less than a year, lowered the unemployment rate, caused the stock market to have many record highs.

    Conserving water

The Bedford Regional Water Authority has asked the users of the new $42 million water line & filtration plant to start the New Year off by conserving water.

    Family Finances

Consider the “if” followed by the “then”. I hope to get a raise next year; I have a chance of getting a raise next year; no chance of a raise next year and, if the company makes substantially improved profits, I might get a raise (a.k.a. trickle down).

    Here we go again

Rick Howell on Oct. 11, 2017, shows his love for the Muslim world by stating the Muslims should be allowed to speak at Liberty University. I do not hate Muslims but Liberty has the right to run their university as they see fit.
If Rick Howell is so enamored with the Muslim faith he should go spend time in a totally Muslim country with his family and any friends he might have, especially if he has any gay or female friends. I am sure they would all be welcomed with open arms.

    Light a candle

As a new resident of Bedford County, I have taken note of the significant number of young people that have lost their lives as the result of traffic accidents, sickness, crime and war.
As a parent that has lost a child, I would like to share a source of comfort, especially during this time of year. (My youngest son was an Iraq War veteran - a victim of PTSD).
Compassionate friends is an international support group for parents and families after a child (at any age) dies.
