    Get tough on speeding

As a recent retiree, I watch the local & national news on a daily basis.
Apparently most towns, cities, counties & states are facing budget problems. One way to gain some revenue and not raise taxes is to get tough on speeding.
I have lived in Bedford County for almost two years and have traveled Rt 122 and Rt 24 quite a bit. I have never seen a radar setup on either of these roads.

    The right side

Virginia’s new Attorney General wants to be on the right side of history by not supporting the state’s ban on same sex marriages.
Has he never read a history book or is he just ignorant about world history?

The Bedford Boys by Alex Kershaw

I have always hated the south. From Maryland to Miami I have visited often, but always came back north with memories of some ugly experience down south. I have relatives I visit infrequently because of my dislike of the politics, the historical factoids and the attitude of the racist bigots that permeate the town’s cities and states of the confederacy.

    terribly wrong

Something has gone terribly wrong in this country of ours, correct me if I’m wrong. Wasn’t it at one time this country was supposed to have a government of the people, by the people and for the people?

    Just the facts, please

Mr. Hastings starts his editorial with the title “Time To Retake Government lol.”
I agree, it is time to retake the government. It’s a mess. … He like most or all of Mike Brown’s Write-In-Supporters talk about me; not facts of the ad or editorials.

    Disturbed by

As a native of El Paso and a current resident of Bedford, I am deeply disturbed by Mike Forster’s column in the 12/25/13 edition of the Bedford Bulletin.

    Time to retake
    Government 101

I am an OTR driver and away from home for long periods of time...my wife saves me the papers so that I can catch up on whats happening around the county when I return. I have just returned and have been reading up on ‘happenings’ and I am always amazed at the rantings of one particular person when it come to the Sheriff.

    Remembrances of the home

I was saddened to learn of the fire at 719 Longwood Ave.
It was my father, John Bibb’s family home from 1906 when he and his twin sister Josephine Bibb were born in the house.  Josephine lived in the house until she died in 2003.

    The learning

Putting guns in schools is tacit acceptance that society has failed, whether it’s a school resource officer, a metaphor for policeman, or armed instructors. Like many of our problems, we refuse to see the deeper reasons for school shootings and only apply easy, mindless solutions.
The example used at the Supervisor’s meeting can be seen more as an exception to the rule, than as a rationalization for arming teachers.
