  • Don’t forget the Navy

Today a group of Naval Academy alumni will dedicate a plaque honoring Naval Academy graduates who commanded warships at D-Day. The plaque will take its place alongside plaques honoring West Point, Virginia Military Institute and the Virginia Tech corps of cadets. All of these institutions produced officers who commanded troops on June 6, 1944.

Why I will vote for my father

I haven’t said much on the Bedford County Sheriffs campaign, because all of you know who I’m voting for. However, I feel that I need to tell you why I’m voting for my father for sheriff. By now if you follow his campaign page, you know what he’s running on, but I’m not here to talk to you about all that. I’m writing another side of him you may not know.

  • Raising the federal tobacco age to 21

    By Senator Tim Kaine

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), youth e-cigarette users increased by 1.5 million from 2017 to 2018, with more than 1 in 4 high school students having reported using a tobacco product in the past 30 days. In other words, we are backsliding when it comes to tobacco prevention for young people.

  • The most lawless president ever

As our deeply unstable president welcomed Hungary’s despotic leader to his office, calls for his impeachment grew, and even included a brave Republican congressman.
Yes, it was just another week in that bizarre land we know as “Trump world,” but one thing was clear: He’s scared to death of the investigations launched against him because he knows he’s guilty, and he knows what he’s hiding.

  • What will the Donkeys do?

I think the line-up of asses who want the Donkey Party’s nomination for president has reached 23, unless somebody else that nobody has heard of tosses his hat in the ring. Although there are a very large number of “Democrat” presidential wannabes out there, it seems like the race is coalescing into a contest primarily between Uncle Joe and Bernie Sanders. The rest are jockeying for the toilet paper position.

  • Honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice

    By James F. Burns
    Retired professor
    University of Florida

A bullet pinged past the soldier’s ear as he crouched behind bushes near the frontlines.  A soldier near him suddenly lurched forward, letting out a horrible scream as he crumpled to the ground and died.  All gave some, some gave all.

    Veterans for Miller

The election process is starting once again and this time it is to elect a new Sheriff!
As an U.S. Air Force veteran, I would like to express a growing trend and viewpoint, that I share with many of my veteran friends.
