Today's Opinions

  • Fighting back against Trump’s poison

I hope the “Trump Christians” noticed that their “God’s choice” president was directly caught in a blatant lie this past week. Rudy Giuliani only had to speak once and proved that Trump has been lying all along about Stormy Daniels.

  • Republicans need a new party symbol

The great advantage I have over Rick Howell, who writes The Liberal Agenda, is that I’m not a political party hack. As a good “Democratic” Party activist, he is bound to take a “my party, right or wrong” attitude, defending whatever the party does.

    Preserve the music hall

As a new Bedford City resident, I can’t tell you how thrilled my husband and I were when we found out that our little town of Bedford had an Orchestra.

  • Herbs are superb for the garden

    By Sue Becker
    Bedford Extension Master Gardener

Herbs are terrific plants to grow, even for gardeners with the blackest of thumbs.  They are generally tough, and if planted in the right place, can often provide lasting enjoyment throughout the years.

  • Time to curb America’s gun madness

Given the political upheaval after the Florida school shooting, there is reason to hope that the gun madness in this culture might be on its last legs.
First, we’ll need this fall’s blue wave of Democratic victories to take back the House, and maybe even the U.S. Senate. As long as too many Republicans both support the gun-worship agenda, and live in fear of an NRA-sponsored primary challenge, they won’t budge.

  • I finally got a rise out of him

I love to needle liberals! It’s so easy as most of them have that combination of self-righteousness and anger that makes them easy to antagonize. I often do this on Facebook. I have some liberal Facebook friends and I sometimes jump in on one of their threads, make a comment and watch the fun as their angry friends go ballistic. Replies that I have received have included obscenities and personal threats.

  • The Bible

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” — Hebrews 4:12

GQ magazine recently named the Bible as one of the “21 Books You Don’t Have to Read Before You Die.”
To quote cartoonist Billy De Beck, “horsefeathers.” Or to expound on that phrase—rubbish, pure nonsense.

  • Freedom

    By Foster Garrett
    Intern Writer

Freedom: It is what every person desires yet only the bravest achieve.
Freedom from war, from persecution, from inner conflict; the freedom to be yourself and to love whoever and whatever you choose; freedom of the wildest nature and of the most tranquil peace; freedom is desired on every level, in every form, by everybody.
