    Recycling benefits us, earth

If you recycle you may have been told: “You might as well give up on recycling, because it is all going into the landfill.”.
Wake up people and spread the word that this is not true.
I talked with Vicky Esposito at  (540) 586-7656 at Bedford County Recycling and this is what I learned: “Bedford County is fully committed to treat your recyclables as treasures.”

  • Youth will forge a progressive future

It’s truly sad to think that a young generation of Americans coming of age now will one day have to say that the first president they remember was…Donald Trump.
Those of us who have seen many presidents must help our youth know what a deviation from the norm this clown and his regime represents.

  • Solutions, not name calling, are needed

Three weeks ago I mentioned why I’ve been citing the figures from the Rasmussen poll. Judging from Rick Howell’s Liberal Agenda from last week, it would appear that Mr. Howell has a reading comprehension problem. Actually, I’m sure Mr. Howell has no problem understanding what he reads. His problem is that he is a hyper zealous “Democratic” Party activist. so he will prefer polls that provide him with numbers to his liking.

  • He is Risen!

    Matthew 20:17-19
17 Now Jesus, going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples aside on the road and said to them, 18 “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, 19 and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify. And the third day He will rise again.”

    Security and School Safety

With all the news about school safety, it makes me wonder how safe our schools are. In recent weeks I have observed and inquired about this problem. I have always thought the element of surprise and good planning is the best defense against the enemy.

  • 2017 Year in Review

    By Nicole Johnson
    Director of Tourism

Happy Spring!  2018 is off to a great (and very busy) start!  In January, I celebrated the one year mark as Bedford County’s Director of Tourism, and I want to mention a few highlights from 2017.

  • Oh, yes, the Blue Wave is coming!

Recently, the conservative columnist here was celebrating because he managed to find a poll that suggested Donald Trump had pushed his approval rating to 49 percent.
This, he said, meant that this deeply corrupt president, who is shedding staff the way rats leave a sinking ship, had a “higher rating than Obama at a similar point.” He thinks the Blue Wave we know is coming this fall might not happen.

  • Outside agencies provide good value

Every year, as they develop their budgets, both the Bedford County Board of Supervisors and Bedford Town Council get requests from outside agencies for money.
This year, the process was accompanied by some fussing on Town Council. It was kind of a tempest in a teapot and nothing happened. Most councilmen agreed that refusing to provide any funding to outside agencies, at this point, would amount to an unfair surprise for these organizations. A policy would need to be developed and applied to next year’s requests.
