  • Liberty locks up No. 2 seed

    On the first day of a new month the Lady Minutemen picked up, maybe their most important win of the season with a 59-38 victory over Rustburg.

    The win put Liberty in a tie with Heritage, whom they beat last week, for the second seed in the Seminole District Tournament. The decision was settled with the flip of a coin that landed in Liberty’s favor.

  • Staunton River hires Head Coach

    A familiar face will now hold the title of Head Coach of the Staunton River football team. Offensive Coordinator Jeremy Haymore will take over as head man on the sidelines.

    Haymore announced on his Twitter page early Monday afternoon that he had accepted the job and a press release was sent out shortly after.

  • LCA snap's JF's win streak

    The atmosphere of Jefferson Forest’s game at Liberty Christian Academy on Thursday Feb. 2 felt like a playoff game.

    A massive crowd was in attendance with both sides equally represented and at times it was loud enough to drown out thoughts from your head.

  • Seminole District Swimming

    On Wednesday Jan. 31 all of the Seminole District teams traveled to the Bedford Area YMCA to compete in the Seminole District Swim Championships.

    Spectators filed around the perimeter of the pool and the lobby of the YMCA hoping they could get a view at the action. Anyone who got a good enough view of the pool got a first hand look at the  dominance of the Jefferson Forest boy’s team.

  • Seminole District Wrestling Championships

    The Liberty Minutemen and Jefferson Forest Cavaliers traveled to Amherst County High School to take part in the Seminole District Championships.

    The tournament was split into two sections for Regional selection purposes. Liberty competed in the 3A portion of the matches and Jefferson Forest in the 4A section.

    The Minutemen finished second in the 3A section with 131 points and the Cavaliers finished third in the 4A with 28 points.

  • JF girls to host LCA in first round

    The Lady Cavaliers of Jefferson Forest will host a first round playoff game in the Seminole District Tournament.

    Jefferson Forest finished fourth in the district and will host the Liberty Christian Academy Bulldogs on Wednesday Feb. 7 at 5:30 p.m.

    The two teams met twice this season and split one game each.

  • Golden Eagles fall to Terriers

    Staunton River’s final Blue Ridge District game of the season came against one of their greatest rivals as William Byrd paid a visit on Friday Feb. 3.

    Fans in attendance were treated to a game that featured an offensive explosion in the fourth quarter. Both teams combined to score 50 points in the final eight minutes of play.

  • Milestones and winstreaks highlight the Ospreys’ week

    It has been over two weeks since the Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Ospreys have lost a game.

    The team extended its winning streak to eight games with wins over Christian Heritage Academy (86-67), Parkway Christian Academy (67-60) and Temple Christian (76-39). The Ospreys (18-8, 6-4) are now in a tie for seventh place in the VACA with less than a week remaining in regular season play.

  • Liberty to play JF in Seminole District Tournament

    The Liberty Minutemen picked up a big district win Tuesday Jan. 30 against Brookville. The Minutemen traveled into the Bees’ nest and walked out with a 56-32 win.

    The final two games did not offer as sweet of a result. Due to past snow days Liberty hosted Rustburg on Friday Feb. 2 then traveled to play the Red Devils on Monday Feb. 5.

    The first battle came down to the wire with the Red Devils stealing a 47-45 win right out of the hands of Liberty.
