Repeating as VHSL 4A State Championship was not the Jefferson Forest boy’s team’s main goal. Head Coach Marty Ponder said all he wanted was his team to swim their best swim and not worry about what they could not control.

The Cavaliers did just that and got another State Championship for their efforts. Jefferson Forest won their second consecutive VHSL 4A State Championship 233-224 over second place Monacan High School. The girl’s finished in twelfth overall with 62 points.

Fast forward about three months and the team went toe-to-toe with the No. 2 seed in the Seminole District, and Bedford County rival, Jefferson Forest. The Cavaliers were victorious 50-47 but Liberty pushed a top team to the edge.
