On Tuesday, August 21 the Liberty Minutemen made their case heard as to why they should remain in Region 3C rather than being moved into Region 3D, where the most recent VHSL realignment placed them. By a 22-0-2 vote Liberty will be placed back into Region 3C.

“We were kind of blindsided by the whole situation,” Liberty Athletic Director Lori Mattson said.

The Liberty Minutemen made a conscious effort this offseason to be more physical on defense and to force more turnovers. It should be no surprise that the first touchdown of the season for Liberty came from the defense.

Defensive back John Gass came down with an interception and took it back 60 yards for a touchdown to give Liberty a lead it would never relinquish in a 34-14 victory.
