Lenten ServicesBedford County Ministerial AssociationThe Bedford County Ministerial Association is pleased to announce our 2024 Lenten Luncheon Schedule. All services will be held in Main Street United Methodist Church’s Community Room , 12-12:55 pm on Wednesdays during Lent. There will be lunch for $5, music and messages from community pastors. The theme is John 3:16 “For God so loved the world He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” Entrance is through the rear Washington Street door. In inclement weather the services are cancelled if schools are closed.
Our speakers are: March 6, Ms. Melissa Murtagh, Holy Name of Mary Roman Catholic Church; March 13, Rev. Tim Feaser, Bedford Lutheran Church; March 20, Dr. David Walton, Bedford Christian Church; March 27, Rev. David Whitehurst, Word of Life Evangelical Church. There will also be a Good Friday service on Friday March 29, 12-12:55 pm at Washington Street Baptist Church with no meal.

Forest/ Goode Community Lenten ServicesJoin your neighbors for worship and fellowship (including a light lunch). A $5 donation for the Shepherd’s Table and the Society of St. Andrew is suggested, but not required. All services will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1720 Bethany Church circle (behind Virginia Memorial Park) and hosted by area churches from noon to 1 pm. March 6, Oakland Community Church; March 13, Forest Presbyterian Church; March 20, Mount Hermon Baptist Church; and March 27, Brookhill Wesleyan Church.
Bedford Baptist ChurchJoin us for Sunday School at 9:45 AM and at 11:00 AM for Morning Worship. The Children’s Church and the Nursery are both available. Our Morning Service is accessible for viewing on Facebook Live (Bedford Baptist Church Bedford, VA) or you can view our livestream service on our website: bedfordbaptist.org. At the bottom of the page, click on either the Facebook or YouTube icons. We invite you to join us for supper on Wednesday nights at 6:00 pm and stay for Bible Study at 6:45 — 7:30 pm. Pastor Michael is presenting a 66-week series in which he is highlighting a different book of the Bible each week. Our meals are catered by The Blue Lady at a cost of $8.00 per meal. On the 3rd Wednesday (Business Meeting) night, meals are provided by different Sunday School classes or committees. We hope you will donate towards the specified mission’s group being supported on that evening. There will be no Bible Study on Business Meeting night. It’s not too late to join the Ladie’s Bible Study. The course is only a few weeks in, but you can jump in and catch up. The group meets on Thursday. The morning session begins at 10:00 am and the evening session at 6:30 pm. The Study is “Matchless” by Angie Smith and the cost is $10 for the class which includes the book. You can pick up your book on the day of your class. Rev. Phil Bailey is conducting sessions on “A Christian Understanding of Islam”. The group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 3:00 PM. There are no books to purchase and no need to sign up. If you are interested in a craft class, we have a Missions Outreach Craft Class which meets every Tuesday at 9:30 am. All you need to do is bring a project you’re working on and stop by, even if you’re not currently working on a project and want ideas for a new project, these ladies would love to have you. Mother’s Day is a few months away, but it’s not too early to begin planning a fun weekend with your mom. On Saturday, May 11th at 10:00 am, plan to bring your mom to a Beth Greer Women’s Conference, “Walking in the Truth”. This event will be held in the Bedford Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Early registration is $15 per person, if you register before May 5th. After that date the cost is $20 which includes lunch and a fantastic event with Beth Greer and Wendy Knox. Bedford Community Early Morning PrayerEach Friday morning the Bedford community is invited to join in prayer for our community and nation at Word of Life Evangelical Church, 912 Burks Hill Road in Bedford. There are usually at least five churches represented at these meetings, and more would be welcome. The doors open at 6 AM for personal prayer time, and the group begins praying together at 7 AM, and usually ends by around 7:30. We are praying for the Bedford Awakening to continue and for our country to soon experience its Third Great Awakening.
BCM assistance servicesBedford Christian Ministries will be doing regular food distribution on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday mornings from 9 to 10:30 AM. Social distancing is practiced and streamlined procedures limit time in the building to 15 minutes or less. Food is brought out to your vehicle. Financial aid is available by appointment only and is separate from food assistance visits. Call 586-2633 to schedule an appointment or for general information.
Mentow Baptist BreakfastMentow Baptist Church, located at the intersection of Routes 43 and 628, Huddleston, invites everyone to join their church family for breakfast at 9:00 a.m. each Sunday morning. There is no cost, and a full breakfast is served. This is followed by a short Bible Study at 10:00 and by Praise and Worship at 10:30.
